Dear Kappa Sigma Parents,
Tau Alumni, Actives and Pledges,

Thank you so much for making 2012 Fall Parents' Weekend a great success! Parents came from as far away as Minnesota to be with their sons. It was truly heart warming to see so many Kappa Sigma families coming together to celebrate their sons' Kappa Sigma brotherhood.

I want to send a special thank you to those who contributed items to the silent auction and to those of you who purchased items! The funds raised will be used to purchase items to help make food service more efficient in the dining hall and for some much-needed repairs in the KS house.

Thank you, Texas Kappa Sigma Educational Foundation, for the support and guidance you provide to our sons and your tireless fundraising efforts. Your loyalty and steadfastness to your Tau brothers and your dedication to the Chapter is a legacy I hope our sons will continue.

Thank you, Pledges and Actives! You got on board in a big way and did the serious "heavy lifting" necessary to prepare the lodge and grounds for the event. It was teamwork at its best!

And last -- but certainly not least -- a huge round of applause for Parents' Weekend co-chairs Rhonda and Reggie Tuck, president-elect Dawnelle Doughtie and so many other Kappa Sig moms and dads for your many hours of planning and hard work to make this the wonderful, memorable event that it was.

Parents' Spring Weekend Highlights

Kappa Sig parents enjoyed a wonderful evening with their sons at this year's family social event held April 21 at the Lodge. Kappa Sig mom Lisa Dunlevy did a beautiful job as event coordinator. It was a special time for all who attended.

 

Parents' Club Updates

Dear Kappa Sigma Families,

The Tau Chapter has added 10 new pledges this spring and we welcome these young men and their families with open arms.

Our first family social event this season will be Saturday, April 21, starting at 5 PM. Please join us for a dinner celebration that will include an honors presentation for our graduating seniors followed by entertainment by La Mona Loca -- the largest salsa band in Central Texas. It promises to be quite a festive evening for all of us!

Please make sure that your son gives us your correct email address so that we can send you your invitation and upcoming information.

New Communications Transition Underway
To improve the efficiency of Parents' Association communications, we are moving to a new system. We will now use the Kappa Sigma Tau Trustees website, www.kappasigtauut.org, as our online resource for gathering actives' and parents' email addresses and other contact information. We will use this information to generate the Parents' Directory and to send you timely emails concerning Tau Chapter news and upcoming events.

Here is how information will be collected: Your son will be asked to provide contact information through a registration form on the Tau Trustees website. From the home page, he will click the "Active Sign-Up" button (upper right corner) that will take him to a page where he will enter contact information for himself and for you.

We encourage each Chapter member to register this information at his earliest convenience so that we will have current and complete information for actives and parents alike.

Parents' Association emails to you: Please note that the emails you will receive from the Parents Association will show the sender at "Kappa Sigma Tau Trustees," as this is the list source where your email address is stored.

We encourage you to visit the Parents' Association web page on the Tau Trustees website where you'll find Parents' Association postings as well as current officer names and email addresses should you need to contact us.

Kappa Sigma Tau Chapter Parents' Club

The Parents’ Club organizes two major events each year to provide Kappa Sigma members and their parents the opportunity to spend special time together and recognize outstanding Kappa Sigmas for their contributions.

Fall Parents’ Weekend includes a Friday dinner, a Saturday luncheon and an awards ceremony to recognize exceptional members, both active and alumni, featuring the Tau Man of the Year presentation.

Spring Parents’ Weekend includes a mother/son Friday dinner and a father/son Saturday luncheon for graduating seniors and their parents. The father/son luncheon is followed by afternoon activities, such as a skeet shoot.

In addition to planning and hosting the two weekend events, the Parents’ Club organizes and publishes a Kappa Sigma directory with contact information for actives, pledges and parents.

The Parents’ Club also works with the house director to ensure that the house runs smoothly with adequate and comfortable accommodations.

Dues and donations are used to produce the Kappa Sigma directory, assist with parent event expenses and to fulfill some of the “Wish List” requests for the Chapter. Recent purchases include flat screen televisions and a surround sound system for the new lodge.

Past purchases include the flag pole in the front of the house, glass table tops, dining tables and chairs, woven wood shades for the TV room and a new felt cover for the pool table top, along with new UT pool balls and cue sets. Dues are $75 per year and additional donations are gratefully accepted.
